Yes, we left Illinois today and moved into Indiana – the states seem a lot narrower now – only 3 days in Illinois and rode about 40 miles in Indiana today, 62 tomorrow and Tuesday, a rest day , after which we will move into Ohio. Today was a nice change in the weather for us – we had very light winds, but noticeably less humidity than the past couple of days. On the humid days, I am reminded of being a kid again and playing outside when it was hot and humid and then coming in for a bath in the evening feeling like a little “dirt ball”!!! We get so filthy dirty out there riding and sweating that it makes you feel like a new person after you have showered!!
We started the day with breakfast at Bob Evans and then headed out in comfortable temps and beautiful back roads – many of them a continued “corn tunnel”.
At one point a bunch of us had a double pace line going and Chuck and I were in the front when someone decided it was time for some “cornography”!!! This first picture represents Bob Horn and Chris's upper arm strength abilities!!!
Next we have Bob Horn riding out of the corn field.
Next was our major pile up as we all ran for the protection of the corn -
Then we had some sort of a pile up of bikes – you get the idea that after a while the corn fields cause you to do strange things!!
We moved on to the first SAG at mile 30 – I had to laugh here because when I went into the store, a gentleman was walking out with his coffee and told me that he was planning to buy a donut and then saw all of us and our great bodies and decided not to buy one?!!?? What an impact we have on some people!!
Around mile 40, as we were leaving Illinois, I had this picture taken because we had missed the entrance picture into the state. A mile or so down the road, we saw the Indiana sign with a photo op, but it was in a bunch of weeds, so I didn’t stand next to it.
Second stop today at mile 59 was in a little town called Veedersburg where there was a café and the owner made all of her desserts – cakes, pies, etc. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and a slice of peanut butter pie (eat your heart out, Dee) and chocolate milk – sounds like a healthy meal, right!!!
This next sign we saw as we entered a little town of Hillsboro – I think it is self explanatory!!!
In the town of Waynetown, I found this interesting decoration on a brick wall.
The area we are traveling in is very similar to home in Pa. now – it has been very flat with a minor blip here and there. I think as we move into Ohio next week, that is about to change. Many people have been very kind to us and are really interested in our trip. Yesterday in a McDonald’s a young girl (17ish) kept coming back to hear more and I finally gave her my blog address. Several weeks ago a gentleman in a convenience store asked if he could shake another rider and my hands, they were so impressed. It is really neat that people have been so kind encouraging!!!

Well, we have finished 36 days and will have a rest day after tomorrow – then 5 long days, a rest day and 8 days till the end of the trip – not sure where the time has gone, but I have really enjoyed it and have found all in our group to be wonderful people!
Today's hurrah goes to my god daughter, Liz, as she celebrates her birthday!!! What a beautiful young lady you turned into!!!
Thank God for the safety, health, and energy!!
